ArmInfo.  The Central Bank of Armenia has decided to leave the rate of the countercyclical capital buffer (CCB) unchanged, at 1.75% of risk-weighted assets, and this decision enters into force on May 1, 2025. As noted in the message of the Central Bank of Armenia, the Board of the Central Bank made such  a decision on April 22 this year, guided by the comprehensive  analysis of the macro-financial and credit market developments.

ArmInfo.  Armenian tax officials have uncovered a shadow turnover of $10 million from a major taxpayer in the construction materials market, as reported by the  SRC press service.

ArmInfo.  In January-March 2025, the customs value of 1 kg of gasoline and diesel fuel imported to Armenia has not changed. This is stated in a statement by the Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic  of Armenia in response to ArmInfo's inquiry regarding why energy prices in the country are not decreasing against the background of the long-term decline in world prices, and whether the situation in the domestic market of the republic is the result of price collusion.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, 2nd generation banknotes are being withdrawn from circulation due to natural wear and tear. As noted in the press release of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, according to the decision of the Central Bank Council, this process is planned to be completed by April 15, 2026.

ArmInfo.At the beginning of June, Yerevan will host the wine festival that has already become  traditional and beloved over the years - Yerevan Wine Days (YWD).  The festival, as usual, will take place on the central streets of the city and will unite winemakers, restaurateurs, musicians, city residents, guests of the capital and tourists on one platform. Wine Days are not only a significant cultural event, but also an important  stimulus for the development of tourism in Armenia.

ArmInfo.  The first domestic satellite of Armenia, Armsat-1, developed by the Bazoomq Space Research Laboratory and the Center for Scientific Innovation and Education, crossed the Karman line (the conventional boundary of space at an altitude of 100 km) for the last time and completed its mission. This is stated in the official message of the laboratory on  its Facebook page.

ArmInfo. The Urban Development Committee of Armenia proposes to create a rating system for construction companies of the Republic of Armenia, which will ensure transparency, competitive development and attraction of international  investments. The draft law is posted on the unified portal of legal acts e-draft.am.

ArmInfo. The Armenian government has raised prices by 5%. This assessment was made by the co-founder  and head of the Union of Entrepreneurs "Mantashyants" Vahram Mirakyan. "The phrase "the government/state raises taxes on the sector" is incorrect. To convey the essence of the phenomenon, the phrase "the government raises prices" should be used.

ArmInfo. The World Bank (WB) has worsened its forecast for Armenia's GDP growth in 2025 from the previous 5% to an updated 4% (from the actual 5.9% in 2024), expecting some acceleration in 2026 to 4.2% (against the previously  announced 4.6%). This is noted in the April WB economic review for the Europe and Central Asia region "Accelerating growth through entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation".

ArmInfo. The four largest telecom operators in Armenia sent 7.5 billion drams to the state treasury in the first quarter of 2025, which is 6.3% less than the figure for the previous year. Of this amount, 94.7 million drams were paid in customs duties, 1.9 billion in direct taxes (including profit tax, income tax) and 3.9 billion in VAT. This is evidenced by data from the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

ArmInfo. Of the 7 operating insurance companies, 3 were included in the list of the 1000 largest taxpayers of Armenia in the first quarter of 2025 (as a year ago): LIGA Insurance, INGO and Sil Insurance. This is evidenced by the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

ArmInfo. An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team led by Iva Petrova visited Yerevan from March 31 to April 10, 2025, to conduct discussions for the fifth review under the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) with Armenia. At the conclusion of the discussions, Ms. Petrova issued the following statement:

ArmInfo.  In the first quarter of 2023, the banking system of Armenia increased tax payments to the state treasury by 25% per annum - up to 27.7 billion drams ($70.8 million). Of this amount, 85.5% or 23.8 billion drams were paid in direct taxes, with an annual growth of 26%. This is evidenced by the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
