ArmInfo.   The Chair of the Tourism Committee of Armenia Lusine Gevorgyan, held a meeting with Mark Levy, General Directoe of Alsace Destination Tourisme and representative of Tourisme Sans Frontieres.  As reported by the press service of the Committee, the meeting focused on opportunities for  collaboration and support in tourism development. This was stated by the deputy chairman of the standing committee on economic issues of the parliament, member of the ruling faction Babken Tunyan from the rostrum of the parliament on April 21. 

ArmInfo.  The continued lending activity in the first quarter of 2025 has enabled Armenian banks to increase profits at double-digit rates. Thus, the growth in the loan portfolio by 28% per annum, reaching 6.5 trillion ($16.7 billion) has  contributed to a 21% annual increase in the total net profit of  banks, amounting to 100.6 billion drams ($256.9 million). This is evidenced by data from the Express Ranking of Armenian Banks as of 31.03.2025, prepared by ArmInfo Investment Company.

ArmInfo.  The ruling Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia proposes to postpone the deadline for filing declarations for individuals. Amendments to the Tax Code of the country are being discussed at an extraordinary session of the parliament on April 21.

ArmInfo.  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan took part in a business seminar in Dilijan on the topic of "Improving Armenia's economic competitiveness through improving policy and administration".

ArmInfo. From April 14 to 18, 2025, there were four dollar transactions and an equal number of ruble transactions in the Armenian interbank foreign exchange market.  However, there were no euro transactions during this period. As a result, the weekly trend for dollar transactions shifted from a 13%  growth to an 8% decline, while ruble transactions which had the same  volume as the previous week, increased by over 2 times. This led to a  decrease in the dominance of dollar transactions over ruble  transactions from 2.8 to 1.2 times in terms of total volume.

ArmInfo.  In the first quarter of  2025, Armenia's public debt in dollar terms rose by approximately $739 million, increasing from $12. 842.2 billion at the end of 2024 to $13.  581.1 billion. In dram equivalent, the amount went up from 5. 092.7 trillion to 5. 318.2 trillion drams.

ArmInfo.  The opposition faction "Armenia" of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has proposed a draft amendment to the Tax Code, according to which it is envisaged to suspend the process of increasing the property tax.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) has embezzled budget funds, which is a serious crime against taxpayers. This was stated by the head of the Transparency International anti-corruption center Varuzhan Oktanyan during a discussion organized by the Public Journalism Club.

ArmInfo.The World Bank is  launching a $100 million Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Improvement Project (TRIP) in Armenia. The project will create job opportunities, attract private investment, and benefit local  communities and visitors in seven prioritized areas across the  country  (Areni, Gyumri, Goris, Dilijan, Dvin, Jermuk, and Yeghegis).  As noted in the WB statement, the World Bank Group's Board of  Executive Directors approved the project on April 17, 2025.

ArmInfo.  The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will provide Armenia  with a loan of 102 million euros to improve the quality of medical services. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia will  discuss the draft agreement with the Bank submitted by the government  for ratification at a plenary session on April 18.

ArmInfo.  The function of control over the execution of the state budget of Armenia by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia will be assigned to the State Control Service of the Republic of Armenia under the Prime Minister. 

ArmInfo.  From 2019 to 2024, 10,779 lawsuits were filed against the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the Republic of Armenia. Only 1,257 court decisions were made in favor of the SRC, 7,163 against, the rest are under investigation. It turns out that the SRC loses about 80% of court cases. Meanwhile, business and the economy suffer, and the country's reputation is irreparably damaged.
