Armenia`s GDP growth rate slowed down in the first half of 2024

ArmInfo. Armenia's GDP in the  first half of 2024 exceeded 4.2 trillion drams or $10.6 billion,  showing a more noticeable slow down in annual growth at 7.3%. In  comparison, during the same period in 2023, there was a slight  decrease in double-digit growth from 18% to 16%. This is evidenced by  the data from the RA Statistical Committee, published on August 20  alongside the presentation of GDP at market prices. The GDP  experienced a negative trend in the first quarter, declining by  36.1%. 

In 2025, Armenia will be able to import 9.5 thousand tons of cattle meat from third countries

ArmInfo.The Eurasian  Economic Union has set tariff quotas for the import of specific types  of meat and whey in 2025. This information was outlined in a  statement by the Eurasian Economic Commission.  "In accordance with  the Treaty on the EAEU, the EEC sets tariff quotas for certain  categories of agricultural goods from third countries and imported  into the customs territory of the EAEU. This decision considers the  balance between consumption and production in member states, as well  as the countries' obligations to the World Trade Organization,"  stated Vahagn Kazaryan, Director of the Department of Customs Tariff  and Non-Tariff Regulation of the EEC.

ArmInfo. Almost 90% of  Armenian cognacs sold in Russian stores turned out to be unsafe,  while almost half of the products contain non-grape spirits. This is  stated in a joint study by the international association  "Anti-counterfeit" and the Union of Cognac, Spirits and Alcoholic  Beverages Producers, which TASS has become familiar with. 

Yerevan City Hall hopes to tender for the construction of Ajapnyak metro station next year

ArmInfo. The results of the basic examination for the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station have been received and submitted to the contractor for review. This was reported by Aneta Babayan, Acting Director of the Yerevan Development and Investment Programs Implementation Office, during a meeting at the capital's administration on August 19.  According to her, the revised project is expected to be ready by the end of September and will be submitted for the final examination. "We expect the EIA and expert examination to be completed by December. After that, we will be able to start the tender process next year," she said.
