ArmInfo. Yerevan Municipality has  officially applied to the Asian Development Bank for technical  assistance in the amount of $1.2 million. This funding will allow the  preparation of a public transport reform program.

ArmInfo. In the insurance market  of Armenia, the loss ratio for compulsory motor third-party liability  insurance increased to 79.3% by August 1, 2024 from 64% last year.   This is evidenced by the data of the Bureau of Motor Insurers of  Armenia.

ArmInfo. By the end of July 2024,  the domestic debt of the Armenian government exceeded the external  debt. At the same time, the state debt in dollar terms increased to  $12 billion 335.4 million (from $11 billion 845.4 million by the end  of 2023). In dram equivalent, the indicator decreased from 4 trillion  794.9 billion to 4 trillion 790.8 billion.

ArmInfo. The State Revenue  Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports that in July 2024, 294  cases of violation of the rules for the use of cash registers (non-  issuance of cash register receipts) were recorded in Armenia and a  fine of about 137 million drams was imposed.

ArmInfo. From August 25 to 28, 2024, the Astana Diplomatic Club invites entrepreneurs from Armenia to visit Kazakhstan on a business mission.  As reported by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia, the event continues the practice of strengthening business ties between the countries by creating additional opportunities for direct business contacts. This spring, a successful business mission of Kazakh entrepreneurs to Yerevan was held, confirming the mutual desire of the business circles of the two countries to expand practical cooperation. The visit of Armenian businessmen to Kazakhstan will allow for progress to be made and further steps to be outlined in order to implement specific cooperation plans. The focus of the current business mission is on such priority areas for both countries such as transport and logistics, increasing mutual trade, and implementing projects in the IT sector.

ArmInfo. The EAEU agreements on free trade zones with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia and Egypt are at a high level of development. As reported by TASS, this was stated by the Russian of Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov at a meeting of BRICS industry ministers. "Free trade agreements are a major and effecient mechanism of developing the EAEU's relations with foreign partners.

ArmInfo. The scheduled  preventive maintenance at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant has been  completed ahead of schedule. This was reported in a statement by the  ANPP press service.

ArmInfo. On August 15, a  contract signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of High-Tech  Industry of the Republic of Armenia with the organization that won  the grant for the "Acceleration Program".

ArmInfo. The Eurasian  Development Bank (EDB) projects Armenian GDP growth at 7.5% in 2024.   This is stated in the EDB Macroeconomic Review for August 2024.  EDB  expects  that the Central Bank will continue reducing its refinancing  rate to 7.5% in late 2024.  "This will only happen if inflation  remains under the CB RA target range (4+1.5%). Inflation could  accelerate to 1.5% in 2024 amid strengthening domestic demand,  moderate weakening of the national currency, and likely further  reductions of the refinancing rate. We believe that monetary policy  will gradually cease its curbing of demand in 2024. The IBL rate will  fall to 7% in 2025, which will be on a par with the CB RA's stable  inflation target range."

ArmInfo. Head of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia Rustam Badasyan touched upon the reaction of expert circles to the draft proposed by the committee on the abolition of incentive norms and the establishment of stricter criminal liability for tax offenses. He called for considering the criticism - some react negatively for personal reasons, and some are actually holding meaningful debates.

ArmInfo. The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development will provide Armenia with a loan of $200 million to finance the construction of the Kajaran tunnel. At a meeting on August 15, the RA government approved the draft law "On ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Eurasian Development Bank", which manages the EFSD funds.
