ArmInfo. For the first time, the  institution of restructuring (sonation) of insolvent banks (bank resolution) is being introduced in the Armenian banking system. At  its meeting on May 18, the Committee on Financial, Credit, and  Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia  issued a positive opinion on the draft law "On Bank Restructuring"  and a large package of related documents submitted by the Armenian  government in the first reading.

ArmInfo. In the Armenian interbank foreign exchange market from May 11 to 15, 2026, dollar transactions increased, while ruble transactions continued to  decrease.  Euro transactions have not been carried out for three months. Specifically, the trend for dollar transactions reversed a 70.1% decline to a 45.2% increase, while the decline in ruble transactions accelerated from 13% to 23.1%.

ArmInfo.On May 15, Sergei Dankvert, head of Rosselkhoznadzor, held talks with Tigran Petrosyan, head of the Armenian Food Safety Inspectorate, as reported  by the Russian supervisory authority's press service. The parties discussed cooperation between the countries' competent authorities and compliance with requirements for the supply of Armenian plant and livestock products to the Russian market.

ArmInfo.On May 14, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, met with the Board of Directors and the executive team of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Armenia. The meeting, held at the Government House, focused on the draft law of the Republic of Armenia "On Investments," which recently passed its first reading in the National Assembly.

ArmInfo. Armenia and Vietnam have identified  several promising areas for future economic cooperation, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of  Economy, citing the outcomes of a meeting between Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Arman Khojoyan and Deputy Minister  of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Phan Thi Thang. The Deputy Minister is in Armenia to participate in the 2nd meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation between Armenia and Vietnam.

ArmInfo.The choice of a new nuclear power plant model is an economic, not political, issue, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to reporters, while  commenting on Russia's proposal to build a large-capacity nuclear power plant designed to secure the country's energy supply for decades.

ArmInfo.  Armenia has recorded a positive migration balance of 2,500 people in Q1 2026.  According to data provided by the Statistical Committee of the  Republic of Armenia, this figure represents a 48% decrease compared  to the same period last year.  According to the source, 974,200  citizens entered Armenia from abroad during the reporting period, a  2.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile,  966,400 citizens left the country, reflecting a year-on-year growth  of 0.8%.

ArmInfo.  Armenia will increase the maximum purchase limit for breeding animals purchased by beneficiaries under the state subsidy program. At a meeting on May  14, the RA government amended the program, which covers 2024-2028.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian government will allocate 186 million drams for the modernization of one road and the design of 13 roads leading to educational institutions. The  decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on May 14.

ArmInfo.  In the first quarter of 2026, 7,272 children were born in Armenia, a 0.2% increase compared to the same period last year. The birth rate per 1,000 inhabitants  for the reporting period was 9.5 per thousand, compared to 9.6 per  thousand a year earlier.

ArmInfo.  AMD 288.2mln will be allocated to finance the activities of the Civil Registration Agency being established in Armenia. The decision to this effect was made at  the RA government meeting on May 14.

ArmInfo.  Armenia's population exceeded 3.1 million as of April 2026, increasing by 0.6%, or 19,000 people, year-on-year. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
