Perceptible  subsidence imports (by 17.7%), with a modest decline in exports  (3.9%), reduced Armenia's foreign trade deficit in January-December  2020 by 28.4% per annum (against 12.6% growth in January-December  2019 with almost equally high 10.8-9.4% growth in imports and  exports). This is evidenced by the data of the Statistical Committee  of the Republic of Armenia, according to which Armenia's foreign  trade turnover decreased by 13.2% per annum in January- December  2020, against 10.4% growth in 2019.

Armenia, like Kyrgyzstan, has made quite good progress in terms of the share of national currencies in mutual settlements, but these are rather point  stories.  Natalya Lavrova, Head of the Department of Macroeconomic  Analysis and Statistics of the Project Unit of the Eurasian Fund for  Stabilization and Development (EFSD), said this during the  presentation "Enhancing the role of the national currencies of the  EAEU in international settlements".

ArmInfo. The introduction of  a common currency within the EAEU at this point in time would have a  negative effect on the GDP of the member states. Evgeny Vinokurov,  Chief Economist of the Eurasian Development Bank and Eurasian Fund  for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) said this during the  presentation titled "Enhancing the role of national currencies of the  EAEU in international settlements". The expert based his opinion on  the results of an earlier study on a common currency for the member  countries of the association.

ArmInfo. In 2020, the SRC's  (State Revenue Committee) Inquiry and Operations Search Department  carried out serious work to identify the shadow turnover of economic  entities. As Vahan Charkhifalakyan, who heads the SRC's this  Department, informed during a press conference on January 29, as a  result of 493 operational-search measures, 8.5 billion drams of  shadow turnover were revealed, as a result of which additional tax  liabilities totaling 730 million drams were returned to the state  budget.
