Armenia joins agreement on facilitating access of the blind to  printed information

ArmInfo.Armenia will join the Marrakesh agreement on facilitating access for the blind and people with disabilities to print information. At the meeting of  January 16, the RA Government approved the draft of the relevant law,  which will be submitted for ratification to the National Assembly in  the established manner.

HSBC Appoints New CEO in Armenia

ArmInfo.HSBC has announced the appointment of Irina Seylanyan as Chief Executive Officer Designate of HSBC Bank Armenia cjsc, with effect from 2 March 2020. The appointment is subject to regulatory registration. Irina succeeds Paul Edgar, who will take up a new role outside HSBC Armenia.

ArmInfo. Nicola International Armenia LLC will invest 1.6 billion drams in the  expansion of production. At the January 16 meeting, the Government of  the Republic of Armenia approved the application of the company to  exempt it from customs payments for imported equipment and raw  materials.

Revenues of the communications sector of Armenia for 11 months of  2019 increased by 0.9% per annum

ArmInfo.Revenues of the communication field of Armenia in January-November 2019 amounted to 134.3 billion drams, having increased in y-o-y terms by 0.9% (against  growth by 0.8% a year earlier). According to the RA Statistical  Committee, the telecommunications segment, which dominates the  communications sector (90.2%), provided revenue of 121.1 billion  drams, having reduced it by 2.6% per annum (against the growth by  0.5% a year earlier).

During 11 months in 2019 volume of cargo transportation in Armenia  decreased by 50.7% with an increase in passenger traffic by 4.3%

ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-November 2019 compared to the same period in 2018 decreased by 50.7% - up to 13,272.8 thousand  tons. Of these, 8 707.5 thousand tons (65.6% of the total) accounted  for road transport, which decreased by 61.5% y-o-y. This is evidenced  by the data of the Statistical Committee of RA.

Armenia increased production of all alcoholic beverages in  January-November 2019

In January-November 2019, Armenia increased the production of all alcoholic beverages produced in the country, in particular brandy, wine (including  sparkling wine), beer, vodka and whiskey. Whereas a year earlier over  the same period, production growth was registered only in the  production of brandy and beer.

In structure of manufacturing industry of Armenia, textile production  recorded the highest growth

ArmInfo. In January-November 2019, textile production showed the highest growth rates among the segments of the manufacturing industry of Armenia. Thus, according to  the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the volume of  textile production has grown 1.7 times year over year for 1.7 fold  (against an increase of 22.4% a year earlier), amounting to 1.2  billion drams.

According to the WB statement on its official page on Facebook, the report looks at the fundamental freedoms of women in  business through data points clustered in 8 indicators: Mobility,  Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and  Pension. 

Armenia`s metallurgical industry has stabilized in growth by December  2019

ArmInfo. In the 11 months of 2019, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased production by 21.4% per annum, against a 22.6% decline for the same period of 2018.  This is evidenced by the data of the Statistical Committee of RA.

Armenia`s mining industry is steadily increasing volumes

ArmInfo. The volume of industrial production in Armenia in January-November 2019 accelerated y-o-y growth from 4.1% to 9.3%, exceeding 1.8 trillion drams ($ 3.8  billion). This is due to an improvement in the trend of the mining  sector which turned from the recession to growth and maintaining the  upward dynamics of the manufacturing industry.

In December, output of aluminum foil in Armenia exceeded production  volumes for whole of 2018

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the output of aluminum foil in January- November 2019 amounted to 28 539 tons, exceeding production volumes for the whole of 2018 (28 359  tons).
