Tatevik Revazyan: National air carrier must be competitive

ArmInfo. The question is not whether we need a national air carrier, the question is how we can create an airline that can be competitive. On February 13, Tatevik  Revazyan, Chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic  of Armenia, stated this from the rostrum of the parliament.

Revazyan stressed that a situation may arise when the aircraft of  this airline will fly half empty. "The question is whether we, as a  state, are ready to pay for the costs of this airline. We all really  want a national air carrier that is competitive in the country. But  the whole question is that competition in this market is growing. Air  carriers are consolidating in the world because competition is  increasing all the time. In Europe, the number of airlines will  decrease soon, they will unite. They will need to have 200-300  aircraft in order to work efficiently, "she stressed.

The chairman of the GUGA also touched on the problem associated with  night flights. <The fact is that Armenia, as a rule, is considered as  a transit zone. It is necessary to ensure that passengers can catch  the next flight. It is worth noting that for an airline, flying at  night is more expensive. Thus, the matter is only in geography, and  not in the desire of air carriers to offend Armenia>, Revazyan  emphasized.
