Electricity generation increased by 18.7% per annum in Armenia in  January 2020

ArmInfo. In Armenia in January 2020 electricity generation  amounted to 726.3 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 18.7%, against a decline of 26.3% a year earlier.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  January 2020 by January 2019 TPPs increased electricity generation by  83.6% to 301.8 million kWh and Armenian NPP - by 2.9% - up to 300.3  million kWh. At the same time, hydroelectric power stations, on the  contrary, reduced electricity generation by 20.7% to 122.6 million  kWh.

During the reporting period, 4.7 thousand gigajoules of thermal  energy were produced, with y-o-y growth of 27%. Wind and solar  stations produced respectively 0.5 million kWh and 1.1 million kWh of  electricity.  Moreover, the production of wind farms decreased by  16.7% per annum, while the growth of solar stations by 83.3%.  

It should be noted that the generation of electricity in Armenia in  2019 amounted to 7 632.3 million kWh, with a y-o-y  decline of 1.9%  versus an increase of 0.2% in 2018. TPPs reduced electricity  generation by 9.7%, HPPs - increased by 2.3%, Armenian NPP - by 5.9%.  Wind stations increased electricity production by 1.7 fold, and solar  stations - by 2.6 fold. Thermal energy production decreased by 31.7%  in 2019.
