Volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in Jan 2020 increased by  5.6% per annum amid decline in passenger transportation by 1.1%

ArmInfo. Cargo transportation in Armenia in January 2020 versus January 2019 increased by 5.6% to 951.7 thousand tons. As noted in the report of the Statistical  Committee of the Republic of Armenia, of the total volume, 51.4% or  489.7 thousand tons accounted for road transport, which decreased by  1.3% in y-o-y terms.

According to statistics, rail freight for the reporting period  increased by 6.9% to 234.1 thousand tons, air - by 11.1% to 1  thousand tons. 226.9 thousand tons of natural gas was delivered via  the main pipeline, which is 22.3% more than the January figure of  2019. Cargo turnover increased in January 2020 by 19.3% per annum -  up to 450 million tons-km. 

Passenger traffic in y-o-y decreased by 1.1% - to 13,811 thousand  people. In particular, road transport decreased by 2.3% to 11 746.4  thousand people, railway - by 1.8% - to 27.3 thousand people. At the  same time, air transportation increased by 22.7% to 260.3 thousand  people. Electric passenger transportation also increased - by 4.8%,  amounting to 1,777 thousand people. Passenger traffic increased by  6.1% year-on-year to 188.3 million passenger-km.
