Armenia sharply reduced diamond exports in 2019

ArmInfo. Armenia sharply reduced diamond exports against growth by 2.3-fold in 2018 - up to 224.8 thousand carats, which is 65.1% lower than the indicator a year  ago. Customs value was $ 54.1 million, with a y-o-y decline of 29.9%.   According to the RA Customs Service, diamonds are exported from  Armenia mainly to the UAE (62%), Russia (18%), the USA (7%), Belgium  (6.8%), Israel (3.2%) and Canada (2, 5%). 

According to customs data, a positive trend was recorded in imports  of products for the lapidary industry in quantitative terms. In  particular, supplies increased by 16% to 708.4 thousand carats of  rough diamonds, valued at $ 149.5 million (with an annual decline of  13.2%).  Mostly, rough diamonds are imported to Armenia from Hong  Kong (35%), India (29.2%), UAE (18.4%), Switzerland (6.1%), Belgium  (3.1%), Canada (2, 9%), Israel (1.4%), as well as from South Africa,  Thailand, Angola, Germany, Lebanon, Russia, Bulgaria.
