In 2019, the unemployment rate in Armenia decreased by 1.6%

ArmInfo. In 2019, the unemployment rate in Armenia decreased by 1.6%. So, according to the results of 2019, the average annual unemployment rate in the RA was  17.9%, compared to 20.5% in 2018 and 20.8% at the end of 2017. 

Moreover, according to the data of the Statistical Committee of the  Republic of Armenia, there is an increase in the level of employment  in the country - from 45.2% (in 2018) to 46.8% (in 2019). According  to the source, on January 1, 2020, the employed population reached  946.8 thousand people (with a y-o-y growth of 4.3%) or 46.8% of the  economically active population, and 220.5 thousand people are  unemployed as of the reporting date, which is 5.8% lower than the  indicator a year ago.

It should be noted that the Central Bank expects an increase in the  balanced level for unemployment, but it will still depend on the  severity of measures taken by the RA government. And in the medium  term, the Central Bank predicts an annual decline in unemployment by  0.8-1.2 percentage points, approaching at the end of the period to  17.3% (the same figure appears in the previous forecast).
