"If we can build the right relationship, we can use international funds for our development. It is important that startups and individuals ultimately remain in Armenia and become good business citizens of Armenia," the president said.
The President does not consider the existence of the largest number of startups in the United States to be random, due to several circumstances. <Firstly, there are very good universities around, and secondly, the world's largest electronic companies. This creates an environment. Market, demand, specialists, all in one place. This is an American model. Today in the USA there are most venture funds and more startups. There are other models. If you take the UK, one of the most famous centers is the scientific city of Cambridge University, which was founded near Cambridge University, which employs a huge number of highly skilled specialists. Near the university are centers of Microsoft, Apple and other major technology companies. An area has been created where startups can go and easily use the university, have connections with big business and grow, "said Armen Sargsyan. He believes that the connection of education, industry and the market is important for the development of startups.
In this context, he referred to the ATOM presidential initiative (Advanced tomorrow). <The idea is to attract large companies to Armenia to create joint laboratories in the field of programming and artificial intelligence. ATOM will consist of three parts. The first part will be called Museum of the Future one that will show what life will be like in 20 years. The second part will be a scientific center. And the third - establishing contacts with leading companies. With the largest technology companies around the world, including Microsoft, Apple, Siemens, IBM, Dassault, Thales, there are already preliminary agreements on creating the same environment as in Silicon Valley, France, Great Britain, Germany. We need such an environment. We are already planning architectural solutions for the ATOM project, and we already have many interesting proposals, "the president said.
Answering a question in which areas gaps in the spread of coronavirus were identified, what solutions startups can offer, the president advised young people to analyze what the world was like before the appearance of coronavirus and how it will change after it. "And how are we going to change?" As for the areas in which startups can work, the president said that there are many. "The goal in the health sector should be to protect the individual and prevent epidemics," the president said, adding the food security sector. <This is a very important area in all countries, from Armenia to the USA. We have four neighboring countries. We must be self-sufficient. We need mechanisms to be able to <produce, sell surpluses, export them and get food from other countries. Both Armenia and Artsakh have great potential in this area - new types of agricultural production that can be produced using new technologies and using new ideas. "We are moving to a new system of electronic banking and electronic services. Therefore, you will need many tools that you need to create in order for these systems to be effective," Armen Sargsyan concluded.
