Armenia improves its position in the Heritage Foundation ranking -  <Index of Economic Freedom>

ArmInfo. Over the year, Armenia  improved its position by 13 points in the ranking of The Index of  Economic Freedom of The Heritage Foundation research center, which is  held in conjunction with the business publication The Wall Street Journal.

Thus, according to the Government of Armenia, Armenia took the 34th  position among 180 countries of the world, against the 47th year  earlier. Thus, according to a study by The Heritage Foundation, the  rating is "Countries with a predominantly free economy". "In terms of  this indicator, Armenia leads among the EAEU countries, in addition,  the country's total score exceeds the average regional and world  indicators," the source noted.

In this regard, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan noted  that the Armenian economy is becoming increasingly free, which is the  main means of stimulating investment. <Against the backdrop of the  coronavirus crisis, this news is not so relevant, but I am glad that  the international community notes the profound changes that are  taking place in the economic environment of Armenia. We must overcome  the coronavirus crisis and return to the process of building our  well-being>, he said.

It should be noted that among the EAEU countries, Kazakhstan took the  39th position in the ranking, Kyrgyzstan - 81st, Belarus - 88th,  Russia 94th; countries neighboring Armenia ranked in the following  order: Georgia - 12th position, Azerbaijan - 44th, Turkey - 71st and  Islamic Republic of Iran - 164th; post- Soviet countries: Moldova -  87th position, Uzbekistan - 114th, Ukraine - 134th, Tajikistan -  155th, and Turkmenistan - 170th.  Note that the Index of Economic  Freedom (Index of economic freedom) is  a combined indicator and its  accompanying rating, assessing the level of economic freedom in the  countries of the world. It is published by The Heritage Foundation,  an American research center, in conjunction with the business  publication The Wall Street Journal. Fund experts define economic  freedom as "the absence of government intervention or the obstruction  of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and  services, with the exception of the protection and support of freedom  required by citizens>. An analysis of economic freedom has been  carried out annually since 1995.

The Index of Economic Freedom is calculated using the arithmetic  average of ten benchmarks: Property Rights, Freedom from Corruption,  Fiscal Freedom, Government Participation, Freedom of   ntrepreneurship, Freedom of Labor, Monetary Freedom, Freedom of  Trade, Freedom of Investment and Financial Freedom.
