Population of Armenia as of July 1, 2020 increased slightly 

ArmInfo. The population of Armenia as of July 1, 2020 amounted to 2.963 million people, having slightly increased on an annualized basis by 0.05% or 1.4 thousand  people.  This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

According to the statistics, the urban population as of the reporting  date was 1.896 million people or 64% of the total number of citizens  of Armenia, and 1.067 million people lived in the villages or 36%.  The number of urban residents increased by 0.2% on an annualized  basis, while the number of rural residents, on the contrary,  decreased by 0.1%. At the same time, the population of Yerevan on an  annualized basis increased by 0.6%, amounting to 1.088 million people  or 37% of the total population of the country.

According to statistics, the most densely populated are the two  regions close to the capital - Armavir (264.4 thousand people) and  Ararat (256.8 thousand people). This is followed by: Kotayk (251.2  thousand), Shirak (231.3 thousand), Gegharkunik (227.2 thousand),  Lori (213 thousand) and Syunik (136.9 thousand). As of the reporting  date, 124.7 thousand and 121.1 thousand people lived in Aragatsotn  and Tavush.  Respectively. And the most sparsely populated region of  the country continues to be Vayots Dzor: 48.5 thousand people. In all  regions of Armenia, there is a decrease in the number of citizens by  almost 0.1%, with the exception of the Ararat region, where a scanty  increase in population was registered (by 0.1%).
