Armenia reduced exports and imports of cigarettes, cigarillos and  cigars

ArmInfo.In the first half of 2020, Armenia reduced the export of cigarettes, cigarillos and  cigars by 13.8% - to 10.7 billion pieces. The customs value  accordingly decreased by 11.1% - to $ 106.2 million.

This is evidenced by the data of the RA Customs Service.  Mainly from  Armenia, tobacco products were exported to Iraq (62.3%), the Arab  Republic of Syria (16.8%), the UAE (12%), Georgia (2.9%), the Russian  Federation (3.1%), as well as Ukraine, Afghanistan, Luxembourg,  Latvia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Bahrain, Montenegro, Mongolia,  Germany, etc.

During the reporting period, Armenia also reduced the import of  cigarettes, cigarillos and cigars by 5.5% to 920 million units, while  the customs value increased by 10.2% to $ 14.8 million. Products were  imported to the Armenian market from Ukraine (76.4%) , RF (20.3%),  Greece (2.6%), as well as Germany, Latvia, Switzerland, Poland,  Bulgaria, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Romania, USA, United  Kingdom, Dominican Republic, etc.

For the production of cigarillos, cigarillos and cigars, raw tobacco  was imported mainly from Brazil (32.6%), Zimbabwe (20.4%), India  (13.6%), as well as Bangladesh, Malawi, Belgium, Bangladesh, Spain ,  Turkey, Thailand, China, etc. Imports of raw tobacco for the  reporting period increased by 27.1% to 12.5 thousand tons, with an  increase in the customs value by 23.5% to $ 48.2 million. To note,  according to the RA Statistical Committee, in I In the first half of  2020, the production of tobacco products in Armenia decreased by  22.6% to 70.1 billion drams.
