Deputy Minister: Armenia is grateful to the European Union for its  assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

ArmInfo. Armenia is grateful to the European Union for its assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic  of Armenia Avet Adonts stated this on November 5 at a joint meeting  of parliamentary committees, at which the draft state budget of the  country for 2021 is discussed.

According to him, the EU has provided Armenia with 98.5 million euros  for the fight against coronavirus, part of which is the restructuring  of programs, and the other is aimed at the implementation of new  projects.

The republic is grateful to the EU and member countries for the  prompt response. In this case, we are talking about cooperation in  the field of healthcare. Periodically, a group of doctors from EU  countries arrives in Armenia and for four weeks they provide  assistance to their Armenian colleagues and share their experience  with them.

Under the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership, the  process of ratification of the document by the EU countries is  practically completed. All 27 countries have completed their internal  procedures, but three countries remain - Italy, Spain and Portugal,  which have not officially notified the EU secretariat of the  completion of the ratification procedure. According to the Deputy  Minister this process is of a technical formal nature. With the  receipt of notifications by Brussels, the ratification process of the  Agreement will be completed, after which the remaining 20% will be  added to 80% of all goods for which trade on favorable terms is  already carried out. The Armenian side has already presented its  proposals on how the implementation of these 20% is seen.

The dynamics of Armenia-EU bilateral relations this year slightly  decreased, but as a result of the joint work, which was carried via  video communication, it turned out to be quite effective, the Deputy  Minister stated.
