
ArmInfo. The Armenian government is determined to solve social and humanitarian problems caused by the challenges of the past year. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan stated this during the meeting with the US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy.
According to him, quoted by the press service of the department, building permanent cooperation with the United States, the Armenian government plans to complete the administrative-territorial reforms in 2021, to which the United States Agency for International Development has made a great contribution. The minister expressed hope that the current year will be productive in terms of the tasks assigned to the department. "Strengthening and deepening cooperation with the United States is key for us in terms of improving infrastructure," the minister said.
Lynne Tracy confirmed the readiness of the American side for mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia. According to the Ambassador, 2020 was a difficult year, especially for Armenia, caused not only by the epidemic, but also by military actions. The Ambassador expressed hope that the ongoing anti- crisis work to restore the Armenian economy will have the best impact on the Armenian-American partnership within the framework of developing the RA infrastructure and expanding investment opportunities.
In response, the minister noted that, despite the damage done in 2020, the presence of a large number of people homeless due to the war, Armenia is determined to achieve economic stability in 2021. According to the minister, in parallel with the implementation of anti-crisis measures, the RA government considers it its priority to ensure the continuity of reforms and current programs launched in previous years. The Minister spoke in detail about the upcoming programs of the Ministry of Territorial Administration in the framework of the construction of reservoirs, modernization of irrigation systems, road construction, development of responsible mining, implementation of administrative and territorial reforms and other measures. The minister also spoke about the continuity of subvention programs implemented within the framework of cooperation between the state and communities.
The interlocutors exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding the Armenian-American cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
