Cargo transportation in Armenia by May 2021 increased by 17.7%, with  a decline in passenger traffic by 17.4%

ArmInfo. Passenger traffic in Armenia in January-April 2021 slowed down the y-o-y decline from 38.3% to 17.4%, amounting to 31,596.2 thousand people. This is  evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

In particular, the most significant decline is observed in air  passenger traffic - by 33.1% to 405.1 thousand people, followed by  road transportation - by 24.7% to 24 505.5 thousand people. At the  same time, railway passenger traffic, on the contrary, increased by  17% to 106.2 thousand people. Transportation of passengers by  electric transport also shows an upward trend - by 30.6% to 6,759.4  thousand people.

The volume of freight traffic in Armenia in January-April 2021  accelerated the y-o-y growth from 2% to 17.7%, amounting to 4,564.8  thousand tons. In particular, road cargo transportation, which  accounts for 63.6% of the total volume or 2,904.6 thousand tons,  increased by 34.4% per annum. At the same time, a decline was  observed in air cargo transportation - by 4.1% to 4.7 thousand tons,  and for rail freight - by 7% to 908.5 thousand tons. The main  pipeline supplied 747 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 1.7%  more than a year ago.

In general, passenger traffic decreased in January-April by 15.4% per  annum, amounting to 421.5 million passenger-km. And freight turnover  increased by 3.4% per annum, amounting to 1701.1 million tonne-km.
