Armenia, Georgia discuss possibilities of expanding cooperation in  tourism sector

ArmInfo. Head of Armenia's Tourism Committee Sisian Boghossian held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze.

According to the press service of the Committee, the parties  discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation between Armenia  and Georgia in the field of tourism, while noting the need to  organize joint events.

Boghossian and Sharvashidze attached importance to holding meetings  between industry representatives of the public and private sectors,  and sharing information on industry events and best practices.

It should be noted that according to the RA Statistical Committee, in  2022, 175,046 tourists from Georgia organized their holidays in  Armenia, which is 2.5-fold higher than the indicator of a year ago.

In January 2023, Armenia and Georgia signed an agreement on mutual  visa-free travel for citizens of the two states. During a meeting  with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the head of the  Armenian government noted that according to preliminary data, the  number of visitors from Georgia to Armenia in 2022 reached 190,000  people. In this vein, Pashinyan stressed that this indicator has  growth potential.
