Minister: implementation program to re-extend operating life of  Armenian NPP to begin next year

ArmInfo. Next year, the implementation of a program to re- extend the operating life of power unit N2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will begin.  Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan stated on October 31 at the RA NA  Standing Committees discussions on the draft state budget for 2024.

According to him, the program itself is divided into two components:  under the firstcomponent, it is planned to fully complete the  remainder of the project for the first extension, and under the  second component, it is planned to begin implementing the  re-extension program. The draft state budget for 2024 plans to  allocate 4 billion drams to solve the first task, and 20.7 billion  drams to the second task. "Next year we will launch a program to  re-extend the operating life of the second power unit of the Armenian  NPP," the minister noted.

On September 14, the Armenian government approved a program to extend  the life of the N-2 power unit of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC.  In August, ArmInfo reported that, according to preliminary data,  about $150 million will be required to carry out work to re-extend  the operating life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. As Gera  Sevikyan, adviser to the general director of the Armenian Atomic  Power Plant (ANPP) CJSC, told the ArmInfo correspondent, it is  planned that about 45-50 million dollars of this amount will be in  the form of a Russian loan, and the rest will be raised from the  state budget.  Mr. Sevikyan noted that the first phase of the project  has almost already begun.  The station is currently undergoing a  comprehensive inspection of the main equipment and components at its  own expense, within the framework of planned preventive maintenance,  but there is no talk yet of concluding agreements with suppliers of  equipment and services.
