Central Bank Governor: external demand is more restrained than last  year

ArmInfo. Consumer demand in the market remains high, but not at a level that would lead to a change  in the monetary policy of the Central Bank of Armenia.  Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Martin Galstyan stated on April 30 during a press conference.

"We believe that there are prevailing risks that limit economic  development and give an indication that inflation will remain low,"  he said.

Speaking about external demand, Galstyan noticed two phenomena. In  particular, the head of the Central Bank noted that in March 2024, 3%  fewer tourists visited Armenia than a year earlier in the same  period. At the same time, according to him, the expenses made by one  tourist in Armenia have decreased compared to last year. "In other  words, external demand is more restrained than last year," Galstyan  said.

He also pointed to other financial inflows into Armenia. "We are  talking about commercial operations:  import of goods, part of which  is exported.

These inflows have a certain impact on supply," the head of the  Central Bank emphasized.
