ArmInfo. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide Armenia with a grant of 2  million euros for the creation of the Syunik customs and logistics center. At a meeting on July 4, the RA Government approved a draft presidential decree approving the relevant agreement, signed on May  14, 2024.

As noted in the justification of the project, the goal of the program  is the construction of a customs and logistics center on a land plot  of 7.7 hectares, located near the village of Sheki, Syunik region of  the Republic of Armenia, 7 km from the city of Sisian, on the  territory adjacent to the North-South highway corridor ". To  implement the program, loan funds in the amount of 10 million euros  will be attracted from the EBRD. As part of the grant project, it is  planned to build an administrative building with a solar power plant  on the roof. On the territory of the center there will be buildings  for vehicle inspection, customs clearance, X-ray inspection of  freight transport, areas for X-ray inspection of passenger transport  and other infrastructure facilities. In the direction of entry and  exit, 5 lanes and a pair of scales of 100 tons each will be created.  The center will be equipped with laboratory and X-ray equipment for  screening passenger vehicles, hand luggage and small cargo, X-ray  equipment for scanning people, a data processing center, document  readers, document authentication devices, etc. With the launch of the  center, based on the use of electronic control systems and digital  solutions, it will become possible to fully implement and apply the  "Single Window" concept, which will create the opportunity to carry  out almost the entire process of obtaining the necessary permits and  customs clearance of goods through a single electronic application  based on the "Single Window" principle.

In 2022, 373 thousand tons of cargo were declared at the Southern  Customs Department of the State Revenue Committee, and in 2023 - 569  thousand tons. The number of declarations in 2022 was 8,100, and in  2023 - 14,300. In 2022, 17.6 thousand cars were transported through  this department, and in 2023 - 29.9 thousand cars.
