ArmInfo. In the first half of 2024, Armenia reduced its natural gas imports by 8.5% to 1,354,211 cubic meters, with a decrease in customs value by 8.3% to $233.9 million. According to the data of the RA Customs Service, 83.3% of natural gas was supplied to Armenia from Russia.
In particular, during the reporting period, 1,128,011 cubic meters of natural gas were imported to Armenia from the Russian Federation, with an annual decrease in volume by 13% and a decrease in customs value by 12.6% to $196.2 million.
The remaining volume (226,200 cubic meters) was supplied from Iran. Natural gas supplies from Iran increased by 22.9%, while the customs value increased by 23.3% to $37.8 million.
According to the source, liquefied gas supplies during the reporting period increased by 63.2% - to 98.5 thousand tons, with a 62% increase in customs value - to $29.7 million. Russian liquefied gas accounted for 98.2% or over 96,793 thousand tons, with an annual increase in volume by 71.2% and customs value by 71.5% to $28.9 million.
Imports of liquefied gas from Iran decreased by 21.4% to 1,629.4 tons (or 1.6%), with a decrease in customs value by 7% - to $701.8 thousand.
The share of Iraqi liquefied gas accounted for 0.1% or 129.6 tons, which is 92.5% lower than the previous year, while the customs value has also decreased proportionally, amounting to $50.5 thousand.
Very small supplies of liquefied gas to Armenia came from Georgia, the UAE, Turkey, China and Germany.
