ArmInfo. On April 1, at the invitation of the RA NA President Alen Simonyan the delegation led by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of  Vietnam Tran Thanh Man arrived in Yerevan.

As part of the visit, a Vietnam-Armenia round table was held on April  2, in which Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic  of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan participated and delivered an opening  speech.

The Vice Speaker considered it noteworthy that the trade turnover  between Armenia and Vietnam has been growing quite rapidly in recent  years. However, according to Arshakyan, there is significant untapped  potential between the countries. In this context, he particularly  highlighted the growth of export- import supplies of alcoholic  beverages, fresh fruits, various types of agricultural and other  products, cooperation in high technology, education, science and  other areas.

Arshakyan recalled that during the years of the USSR and after  Armenia gained independence, a wealth of experience in cooperation  was formed between the two countries, there are traditions in the  educational, cultural and scientific spheres that need to be  preserved and developed. "Many thousands of Vietnamese students  studied in Armenian universities, mutual cooperation in the  educational and scientific spheres has been established. In this  regard, it should be noted that there is a mutual warm relationship  between our peoples, and this, of course, can also serve as a very  good basis for the development of economic ties," Arshakyan noted.

He welcomed the creation of a platform for dialogue between  businessmen, expressing confidence that economic development plays an  important role in expanding relations between peoples and at the  state level.

According to Arshakyan, the high-level visit will give new impetus to  the development of economic, educational, cultural and political ties  between Armenia and Vietnam. In this regard, the NA Vice Speaker  mentioned the recent visit of the delegation led by NA Speaker Alen  Simonyan to Vietnam and expressed confidence that high-level mutual  visits will be permanent and will contribute to the development of  relations between the countries and peoples.

The welcoming speech was also given by the Chairman of the National  Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Manh, who spoke about the importance  of intensifying relations between the two countries, expanding  economic ties, cooperation between business circles, and implementing  new initiatives. He also noted that there is untapped potential in a  number of areas. According to Tran Thanh Manh, Armenia can become a  bridge within the framework of Vietnam-EAEU relations, which can be  mutually beneficial.

The event was attended by members of the Armenian government,  representatives of the government and parliament of Vietnam, as well  as businessmen from both countries.
