ArmInfo. The US Federal Reserve will keep the federal funds rate between 3.5% and 3.75% per annum at its meeting ending on January 28, according to most analysts and economists.
The Fed has cut borrowing costs three times in 2025 (by a combined 75 basis points), bringing them to their lowest level since 2022. In December, the regulator indicated it might hold off on further rate cuts.
Futures markets, according to FedWatch, rate a January rate cut as extremely unlikely (97% expect no change), despite pressure from US President Donald Trump to lower borrowing costs and the initiation of a criminal investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell, the Financial Times reports.
