Electric Networks of Armenia  may be nationalized following market  value  assessment

ArmInfo. The market value of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) is currently being assessed. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared this  information during a briefing on January 29.

According to the Prime Minister, if the assessed amount is affordable  for the state budget, he noted, the ENA will be nationalized and  transferred to the management of a highly professional, accredited  company or group of companies. "We are in no hurry; the Electric  Networks de facto belong to the Republic of Armenia," the Prime  Minister stated.

He also noted a tangible increase in the company's tax activity,  transparency, and efficiency. "It is important to say that as a  partner, ENA has opened up to dozens, if not hundreds, of companies.  Previously, tenders were largely participated in by companies  associated with former leaders. In other words, it was a corrupt  money-laundering system," he said, adding that criminal cases have  been initiated regarding these past practices.
