Italy has become the leading source of remittances to Georgia

ArmInfo. Private remittances to Georgia in January totaled $282.64 million, up 16.6% ($40.2 million) from a year earlier.

Italy, home to a significant number of Georgian migrants, overtook the United States to take first place.

Russia is in third place, but with growth of over 30%.

Italy — $53.183 million (15.21%); United States — $52.043 million (10%); Russia — $33.509 million (31.61%); Israel — $26.657 million (15.72%); Germany — $24.109 million (24.57%); Greece — $22.396 million (17.91%); Turkey — $9.530 million (26.22%); Spain — $7.405 million (40.31%); France — $5.345 million (20.08%) Kazakhstan — $5.212 million (10.01%).

In January 2026, $31.2 million (84.0 million lari) were transferred abroad from Georgia. This is 10.2% more than the same figure in January 2025 (US$28.3 million).
