ArmInfo.Armenia's metallurgy sector saw a significant increase in production averaging 28.8% year-on-year in January 2026 (compared to a 17% decline a year earlier). According to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the growth was fueled by an uptick in the production of copper concentrate, as well as improved dynamics in the production of all metals in Armenia, excluding ferromolybdenum.
In particular, the production of copper concentrate increased by 35% year-on-year in January 2026 (compared to a 20.6% decline a year earlier), totaling 28.7 thousand tons. Molybdenum concentrate production increased by 2.2% (versus a 26.5% decline the previous year), reaching 1,266.9 tons. Zinc concentrate production slowed year-on-year from 32% to 6.4%, reaching 1,153 tons.
The production of steel pipe, hollow section, and fittings accelerated year-on-year from 9.3% to 14.1%, reaching 1,754.1 tons. Aluminum foil production reversed its 1.7% decline to 12.7%, reaching 1,754.1 tons. Only the production of ferromolybdenum experienced a slowdown, shifting from a 47.1% growth to a 55.1% decline, reaching 131 tons. All metals produced in Armenia are exported primarily to Europe and the United States.
