
ArmInfo. In January 2026, Armenia's service sector increased revenue to AMD 318 billion ($836.8 million), decelerating in annual growth from 12.6% to 7.4%. This trend was primarily driven by a slowdown in the dominant financial sector, from 29% to 1.7%.
A slowdown in the annual growth rate of services provided was also recorded in healthcare, from 4.6% to 4%, real estate transactions, from 22.5% to 9.6%, and professional and scientific activities, from 19.8% to 17.7%. Acceleration in annual growth in services provided was observed in the catering and tourism sectors, from 8.4% to 9.9%; culture, entertainment, and recreation, from 0.4% to 12.2%; information and communications, from 5.3% to 8%; and administrative and support activities, from 6% to 20.3%.
A deterioration in the annual dynamics of services provided was observed in education, from 13.1% growth to a 3% decline. An improvement was observed in transportation, with a 14.2% increase from a 5.5% decline.
The financial sector led in terms of service volume, with AMD 104.7 billion (32.9% of the total). Information and communications ranked second, with AMD 63.2 billion (19.9% of the total). Transportation ranked third with 38.3 billion drams (12.1% of the total). Fourth place went to catering and tourism with 26.8 billion drams (8.4% of the total). Rounding out the top five by service volume was culture, entertainment, and recreation with 25.1 billion drams (7.9% of the total).
The average dram exchange rate in January 2025 was 379.98 drams per US dollar.
