
ArmInfo.A meeting on the prospects for institutional reforms in water and land resource management, as well as the reorganization of the Water Committee was held chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the PM's office, Aramazd Ghalamkaryan, Chairman of the Water Committee at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, presented a roadmap for the institutional transformation of the Water Committee. The roadmap includes the development of a strategic program for water systems management for 2026-2035, the revision and modernization of legislation and existing regulations, an inventory of irrigation systems and land areas, efficient, climate-resilient, and water-efficient water management, improved irrigation system management, monitoring, land consolidation, increasing the share of water-efficient agriculture, reservoir construction, and more. Additionally, details of the Water Committee's international programs for 2026-2031 were also presented.
Views were exchanged, and steps aimed at consolidating and effectively managing water resources and systems were discussed. Prime Minister Pashinyan instructed those responsible to organize a working discussion on the mechanisms for effectively implementing institutional changes in the sector and to report on the results.
