One million citizens to gain digital IDs by year-end

ArmInfo. By the end of the year, 1 million residents of Armenia will have modern identification and a digital signature, allowing them to use online services, as stated by Nerses Yeritsyan, Director of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia, in response to questions from parliamentarians.

Currently, the number of citizens with identification and a digital signature has reached 500,000. "That means we are close to the goal," he emphasized.

The head of the Agency recalled that the government's digitalization strategy is built around 12 "Life Stages"-key milestones from birth to retirement that require state interaction  and have legal or financial consequences. Within the next 1-2 years, digital services for six of these stages will be fully operational via secure web portals and mobile apps.

He also announced that, thanks to ImID, a company created by the telecom and banking sectors, the digitalization of services will be ensured not only in the public sector but also in the private sector.

Recall, ImID was established in 2024 by 10 Armenian banks and three telecommunications companies.  ImID provides secure and reliable electronic identification solutions for individuals, businesses, and government agencies. Users can register electronically, log in to systems using imID, confirm transactions, and sign any digital documents online-without the need to be present in person. All transactions, including identity verification and document signing, are protected by powerful encryption and operational security mechanisms.
