ArmInfo. Armenia has lifted restrictions on residential construction on plots smaller than 400 square meters. The RA Urban Development Committee announced the corresponding amendments to the building codes "Urban Development. Planning and Construction of Urban and Rural Development."
As a result, citizens can build a house on a residential plot of up to 400 square meters, ensuring proper entry and exit to the property, adhering to fire safety requirements, the maximum development percentage, and other urban development standards.
"Thanks to these amendments, owners of more than 45,000 small plots of land already existing in the Republic of Armenia will have the opportunity to build a house on their plots. More than 45,000 plots of land will be put into economic circulation," the Committee noted. Compatriots displaced from Nagorno- Karabakh, who raised this issue at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, will also benefit from the lifting of the minimum land size restriction. Under the state program to support housing construction for their families, they can purchase a land plot of up to 400 square meters for residential development and build an individual residential home.
The Committee is convinced that lifting the restriction will allow for more flexible implementation of housing construction programs, facilitate the resettlement of families in rural areas, and create more favorable conditions for attracting private investment.
