ArmInfo. On March 31, Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of the Republic of Armenia, received representatives of Huawei's regional branch, as reported by the PSRC press service on April 1.
According to the source, Huawei experts presented examples of the company's battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the European Union and the Baltic countries, as well as the capabilities and advantages of these systems, aimed at solving systemic issues caused by the large-scale use of solar power plants.
During the meeting, prospects for developing activities in energy storage were discussed, and the significance of constructing power storage plants in the current energy system was emphasized. The parties agreed to continue their cooperation to expand the use of energy storage technologies in Armenia.
It should be noted that tomorrow, April 2, a government meeting in Armenia will discuss a package of legislative initiatives aimed at addressing this issue. Specifically, it is planned that the construction and operation of storage stations in Armenia will become a new activity subject to licensing. The procedure and conditions for holding tenders for the construction and operation of such stations will be established by the Public Services Regulatory Commission. Taking into account the existing regulations governing the implementation of public-private partnership programs, including those related to tender procedures, the draft stipulates that the aforementioned tenders will be conducted by the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
