ArmInfo. The Public Services Regulatory Commission will soon consider lowering the connection fee for new customers and clarifying the technical conditions for connecting to the distribution network when connecting to a 6 (10) kV grid, as noted in a statement issued by PSRC.
The source notes that the details of the upcoming fee reduction were discussed a working meeting held by the Commission on April 3. The discussion focused on the possibility of lowering connection fees for 0.22 kV and 0.4 kV networks, as well as for residents of apartment buildings, as defined by the electricity market rules approved by the Commission's decision on December 25, 2019.
Recall, the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC had previously launched a process to reduce connection fees for new subscribers by 30-40%. The day before, former ENA CEO David Ghazinyan stated that, according to his data, approximately 1,500 customer requests have not been connected to the grid on time. He considers the lowering in connection fees for new subscribers a form of selective bribery. "The increase in connection fees for new subscribers was attributed to us when we had no tools to do so. It was done by the State Services Regulatory Commission. Now they've decided to lower these fees; this is a form of selective bribery on their part, just like with pensions and other similar issues," Ghazinyan noted.
