Armenia joining EU to put end to air communication with Russia - RF  vice-premier

ArmInfo.  If Armenia joins the European Union, there will be no air travel between Armenia and Russia. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei  Overchuk.

"There is currently no air travel between Armenia and the European  Union, which means we will have no air travel between Armenia and  Armenia," he emphasized on Channel One, according to Russian media.

According to him, Armenian citizens should be aware of the potential  consequences of Yerevan's decision to move closer to the EU. "This  may sound very harsh, but we want people in Armenia to understand  that if this happens, it will happen because decisions have been made  to move closer to the European Union," the Russian Deputy Prime  Minister emphasized.

Overchuk added that the ultimate consequences of Armenia's accession  to the EU remain unknown.

It should be noted that on January 9, 2025, the Armenian government  approved a draft law on the initiation of the EU accession process,  proposed by the "Eurakve" civic initiative. The draft was submitted  to the Armenian parliament for approval. On March 26, the parliament  adopted it in its final reading and sent it to the president for  signature. The document was signed on April 4 of that year. Moscow  stated that Russia had conveyed to Armenia that simultaneous  membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union was  impossible.
