ArmInfo. Car importers are sounding the alarm over the two-day- long impediment to clearing US vehicles into Armenia. Garnik Danielyan, a member of the RA National Assembly from the opposition "Armenia" faction, wrote as they have been unable to clear US vehicles into Armenia on his Facebook page.
"The reason cited is document discrepancies. The documents for some vehicles imported from the US contain markings indicating they are scrap metal, which customs officials consider an obstacle to customs clearance in accordance with Armenian legislation. However, such documents have never previously caused problems for these same customs officials. Even if there was an internal solution, why weren't importers notified in advance?" the parliamentarian asked.
He added that as a result of this unclear situation, 14-15 vehicles are still being held at customs. "I'm drawing the State Revenue Committee's attention to this fact, expecting clarification and a speedy resolution," Garnik Danielyan emphasized.
