
ArmInfo. Armenia and Bulgaria have agreed to expand cooperation in the areas of social security and labor migration. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, citing the meeting between Bulgarian Ambassador to Armenia Nikol Nikolov and Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan.
The parties expressed their readiness to advance dialogue on the draft Agreement on Social Security and to facilitate the effective implementation of existing regulatory mechanisms.
Minister Torosyan praised the existing friendly relations between Armenia and Bulgaria, emphasizing that the existing mutual trust and cooperation experience create a favorable foundation for deepening sectoral ties and implementing new initiatives. Presenting the ongoing reforms in the sector, the minister noted that Armenia's labor market is gradually entering a new stage of development, transforming the country from a labor exporter into a labor recipient.
In this context, Arsen Torosyan also noted that in recent years, Armenia has seen steady job growth, which contributes to increased employment, stimulates socioeconomic activity, and simultaneously creates new opportunities for attracting foreign specialists.
It is worth noting that, according to the Statistical Committee, the unemployment rate in Armenia decreased from 13.4% to 12.8% by 2025. The number of unemployed in the country decreased by 4.9% to 172,300. At the same time, the employment rate in Armenia decreased from 51.2% to 50.6% by 2025. In total, the country has a labor force of 2,325,300, of which 1,177,200 are employed.
