"Strong Armenia" intends to break the vicious circle of poverty

ArmInfo. In his campaign speech at a light industry plant in Artashat, Strong Armenia party board member Narek Karapetyan announced that after winning the upcoming parliamentary elections, the new government will begin implementing a series of economic measures, one of which he named as the need to overcome the country's socio-economic phenomenon – the so-called "poverty trap."

According to the politician, a special fund will be created in the country, financed by both the government and investors, through which the poorest families in the country will receive 150,000 drams per month to overcome the "poverty trap." He explained that the "poverty trap" is a self-perpetuating mechanism in which a lack of family resources (money, education, health) prevents individuals from improving their financial situation, educating their children, and improving their health, thereby creating a vicious cycle of poverty. In essence, the politician proposed establishing a mechanism for receiving an unconditional basic income for the poorest to overcome the situation where very low incomes are used solely for survival, preventing investment in human capital development. Karapetyan emphasized that, given the Armenian people's immense potential, it is unacceptable for tens of thousands of families to live in conditions unworthy of the 21st century.

Furthermore, speaking about the country's economic development plans, Karapetyan outlined three key areas. These include supporting investments aimed at strengthening long-term industrial programs, protecting the domestic market through support for entrepreneurs and domestic producers, and actively participating in the government's promotion of major infrastructure strategic areas for economic development.

"Economics is our profession. We have extensive experience in this field, based on which we can confidently state that we are capable of implementing a serious economic reform program, which is already several years overdue," he concluded.
