ArmInfo. Armenia will increase the maximum purchase limit for breeding animals purchased by beneficiaries under the state subsidy program. At a meeting on May 14, the RA government amended the program, which covers 2024-2028.
Arman Khojoyan, Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA, noted in his speech that this refers to breeding sheep and goats. As a result of the program, 2,350 head of breeding small ruminants have already been imported into the country. The Deputy Minister noted that, according to the requirements set for beneficiaries, subsidies will be paid for the purchase of a minimum of 5 head and a maximum of 300 head. However, proposals are already being received to purchase breeding cattle in much larger quantities. For this reason, it has been proposed to increase the maximum number of heads to 1,000.
Khodzhoyan recalled that when purchasing breeding small ruminants, the state covers 50% of all costs in the form of subsidies (450,000 drams for purchasing livestock abroad and 300,000 drams for purchasing livestock domestically). All purchased livestock must be registered in the livestock registration system.
