EAEU expects mutual trade to exceed $100bln by 2026 end

ArmInfo. Despite the instability and volatility of global markets, trade turnover between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has exceeded $95 billion.  This was announced by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in  Astana on May 29.

"This year, we expect mutual trade to increase by more than 6%, which  will allow us to exceed the $100 billion mark," he emphasized.

At the same time, the president noted, international organizations'  assessments of the state of the global market are disappointing.  According to an IMF report, the global economic growth forecast for  this year has been adjusted downwards to 3%.

"Clearly, general global structural changes cannot but impact the  economic dynamics of the EAEU. Under these conditions, the tasks of  adapting our Union to new realities, strengthening its internal  resilience, and enhancing its competitiveness are particularly  urgent," Tokayev said.

At the same time, the head of state noted that the EAEU maintains  positive macroeconomic development momentum, and, according to  forecasts, the aggregate GDP growth rate of its member countries will  reach 2.5% in 2026-2027.

According to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover  between Armenia and the EAEU countries decreased by 36.9% in 2025,  amounting to just over $8 billion. Export volumes fell by 5% to $3.2  billion, while imports declined by 48.5% to $4.8 billion.

Trade with Russia during the reporting period declined by 38.3%,  amounting to $7.6 billion. Trade turnover with Belarus increased by  22.9% to $251.4 million in 2025. Trade with Kazakhstan increased by  6.3% to $115.9 million. Trade with Kyrgyzstan declined by 23.2% to  $11.3 million. The EAEU countries accounted for 37.5%.
