Industrial policy within  EAEU clearly lagging behind. - Lukashenko

ArmInfo. The direction of industrial policy within the EAEU is clearly lagging behind. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko voiced this assessment  while addressing the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana on May 29. "Both the EEC and all of us need to rectify this  situation," he emphasized.

According to the Belarusian president, while the mechanism for  stimulating cooperation has been launched, its scale and impact  remain insignificant. "We are unable to find worthy joint allied  projects. At the same time, we are creating duplicate manufacturing  facilities, and then we put all our effort into protecting them from  one another," he stated.

Recall, back in 2024, in order to develop cooperative collaboration  among EAEU member states, the Commission together with business  representatives and authorized government bodies of the Union  nations developed a mechanism for the financial support of industrial  cooperation projects.  This financing is provided by subsidizing a  portion of the interest rate on credits and loans in the amount of  100% of the key rate of the respective Central (National) Bank.
