
ArmInfo. Members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council have adopted a joint statement on the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI) within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
According to the statement published on the official Kremlin website, the Council members—guided by the principles and provisions of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union dated May 29, 2014—expressed their conviction that the responsible development and application of AI across the economic sectors of the member states will help achieve economic integration goals while respecting national priorities and sovereignty. Furthermore, it will accelerate the digital transformation of the member states' economies and create favorable conditions for the development of their digital environments. According to the source, the deployment of AI technologies will also enable member states to ensure non- discriminatory access to artificial intelligence capabilities; enhance the global competitiveness of their national economies; Improve the standard of living for the populations of the member states and foster the creation of new employment opportunities.
"To ensure the responsible development and application of AI, the member states intend to consistently develop digital initiatives and implement joint projects on the application of artificial intelligence technologies within the areas of cooperation stipulated by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014. Furthermore, to intensify dialogue between governments, businesses, and the expert community of member states on the study, development, and application of artificial intelligence," the statement reads. .
It is also noted that member states intend to create the necessary conditions for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence through the exchange of experience in the application of AI technologies, guided by the principle of the inadmissibility of barriers within the EAEU internal market and the joint development of technological and production chains related to AI.
"We express confidence that cooperation in the responsible development and application of AI across economic sectors within the EAEU will provide a strong impetus for the technological and economic progress of our countries, while ensuring the protection of citizens' guaranteed rights and the digital sovereignty of member states," the statement reads.
