
ArmInfo. Armenia's industrial sector increased production volumes by 13% in January-April 2026 (versus a 16.1% decline a year ago), exceeding 1 trillion drams ($2.6 billion). According to data from the RA Statistics Committee, this dynamic was driven by the mining and manufacturing sectors, which had recovered from recession and started growing.
At the same time, industrial production in April showed a 0.2% decline to 254.8 billion drams ($733.8 million). In particular, the mining and open-pit mining industry reversed its annual growth from a 6.8% decline to a 35.4% increase, reaching 226.4 billion drams. In just one month, the mining industry demonstrated growth of 2.5%, reaching 62.5 billion drams.
The manufacturing industry also reversed its annual growth from a 23.5% decline to 8.9%, reaching 618.4 billion drams for January-April 2026. Furthermore, the manufacturing sector increased its output by 2.4% over the month, reaching 160 billion drams. Significant growth was recorded in chemical production (2.3 times), furniture (61.5%), jewelry (59.6%), and base metals (34.7%). At the same time, a decline was observed in the production of machinery and equipment (by 71.1%), coke and refined petroleum products (by 61.2%), electrical equipment (by 13.3%), motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (by 6.5%), cigarettes (by 7.6%), printing (by 3.1%), and other non-metallic products (by 1.5%).
In the manufacturing sector, the leading output volumes were food products (182 billion drams), basic metals (110.3 billion drams), cigarettes (92.3 billion drams), and beverages (66 billion drams). According to statistics, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning in January-April 2026 slowed to 7.4% (from 11.7% a year ago), amounting to 147.7 billion drams. In April alone, a 16.1% decline was recorded, reaching 29.5 billion drams. Moreover, electricity generation, transmission, and distribution increased by 5.4% year-on-year during the reporting period, while gas production and distribution of gaseous fuels through gas supply systems increased by 14.4%. Revenues from water supply, waste treatment and processing, and secondary raw materials increased by 3.7% during the reporting period compared to 1.2% growth a year ago), reaching 10.1 billion drams. Month-on-month, this segment showed growth of 3.1%, exceeding 2.5 billion drams. Moreover, the upward year-on-year trend was primarily driven by wastewater collection and treatment, which increased by 7.5%.
It should be noted that the average dram exchange rate in January-April 2026 was 377.28 AMD/USD, while in April it was 347.23 AMD/USD.
