ArmInfo. Armenia's goal is to increase trade volumes of Armenian goods within the EAEU market and more fully utilize the Union's potential, as stated by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan in Parliament. "Armenia is a full member of the EAEU, and we have utilized all available mechanisms to protect the rights of our producers," he said.
The minister noted that processes related to the removal of trade barriers have already begun. In this regard, he recalled that, under the EAEU Charter, member states can submit complaints in cases where other countries impose restrictions or barriers to trade. According to Papoyan, both Armenia and other Union states have repeatedly encountered such issues.
"This is a normal working process," the minister emphasized. He assured that Armenia intends to consistently defend its interests and increase trade volumes within the EAEU. "We must utilize all the opportunities provided by membership in the Union, just as other EAEU member countries do," Papoyan concluded.
It should be noted that, according to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EAEU countries decreased by 36.9% in 2025, exceeding $8 billion. Export volumes fell by 5% to $3.2 billion, while imports declined by 48.5% to $4.8 billion. In January-April 2026, Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU fell by 19.2% year-on-year (compared to a 61.5% decline a year earlier), to $1.9 billion. Exports decreased by 4.7% to $911.6 million, while imports fell by 29.3% to $970.1 million. This change in annual dynamics reduced the EAEU's share of Armenia's foreign trade from 37% to 29.8%.
