ArmInfo. Armenia will expand the mechanism for using electronic cash register receipts. The country's parliament is considering amendments to the RA Tax Code in the first reading at its June 17 session.

According to Hamlet Sahakyan, Deputy Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee, current regulations require the use of a cash register for organizations, individual entrepreneurs, and notaries when conducting retail sales through retail outlets, performing work for the public, or providing services to the public. Data from a paper receipt reaches the tax authority within 30 minutes to 38 hours. The use of electronic receipts will significantly speed up this process, making it more convenient for consumers of goods and services. Electronic cash registers can be used by organizations and individual entrepreneurs when completing transactions for the supply of goods, provision of services, or performance of work under orders received through a website or electronic application (electronic trading platform). Their use will become mandatory when placing orders, for example, for passenger transportation by organizations, individual entrepreneurs, or individuals.

Along with technological development and the growth of digital services, there is a need to expand the scope of electronic cash registers, transforming them into an alternative tool to conventional cash registers, allowing them to perform the same functions in a simpler and more modern way. The draft proposes to unify all regulations related to cash registers and electronic cash registers, as well as establish a permitting standard through which the government will define technical requirements for electronic cash registers, mandatory requirements for their registration and deregistration, website or electronic application requirements, and rules for their use.
