ArmInfo. Armenia's energy sector needs transformation. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a government meeting on June 18.
According to him, to achieve this goal, it is necessary to determine the format of the government agency that will handle this issue. For example, a project aimed at improving energy efficiency should be the final stage of the transformation. "We will need to decide which government agency format will be most appropriate for the transformation of the energy sector, which will cover all stages: diversification of production capacity, increasing the efficiency of electricity transmission, creating infrastructure for energy storage stations, etc." Pashinyan said, also pointing to energy efficiency programs that will allow people to have warm apartments with lower energy consumption.
He specifically noted the need to implement energy efficiency projects in panel buildings. This, the Prime Minister noted, will enable citizens to save significant amounts on their utility bills. An interdepartmental working group will be tasked with overseeing this work, with energy efficiency being a small part of its focus.
"Overall, transforming the energy sector should be one of the most important areas of our work," the head of the Armenian government said, calling for the study of international experience, particularly that of Germany.
