Numbeo: Yerevan most expensive capital in South Caucasus in terms of  cost of living

ArmInfo.Yerevan is the most expensive capital in the South Caucasus, according to research from Numbeo, the world's largest global crowdsourced online database.

According to Numbeo's cost of living data, Yerevan is followed by  Tbilisi and Baku. The average monthly expenses of a Yerevan resident,  excluding rent, are $742, compared to $590 for a Tbilisi resident and  $575 for a Baku resident. A family of four in Yerevan spends an  average of $2,706 per month, a figure that is reflected in the high  real estate-to-income ratio. In Tbilisi, for example, the average  monthly expenses are $2,169, while in Baku, they are $2,126. Rent for  a one-bedroom apartment in the capital of Armenia costs $760, in the  capital of Georgia $700, and in the capital of Azerbaijan $550.

Meanwhile, the basic grocery basket per person in Yerevan is $240, in  Tbilisi $215, and in Baku $180.  Residents of Yerevan pay $138 for  utilities, $103 for Tbilisi, and $80 for Baku. In many cases, the low  cost of living in the capital of Azerbaijan is explained by domestic  subsidies for energy resources (gas and electricity). Yerevan, for  example, has the highest utility bills, especially during the winter  heating season.
