ArmInfo. As of June 30, 2026, the number of beneficiaries enrolled in Armenia's medical insurance system has risen to 1.7 million, up from 1.5 million at the start of the year. This update was announced today by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a press conference.
According to her, the increase was due to a number of factors. First and foremost, there was an increase in the number of residents (persons staying in Armenia for 183 days or more), as well as employees with salaries exceeding 200,000 drams. Furthermore, as a result of legislative amendments, individual entrepreneurs were included in the insurance system ahead of schedule. The minister announced that new groups of citizens will join the system starting in 2027: individuals employed under civil contracts, taxi service employees, and all registered employees, regardless of salary.
According to Avanesyan, during the upcoming discussions of the draft state budget, the issue of including certain categories of citizens in the insurance system will be considered, with the state subsidizing insurance premiums at a rate of 100%. Starting January 1, 2028, the health insurance system is expected to cover the entire population of Armenia, and the state procurement program will be abolished. The minister also announced that of the 1.7 million insured individuals, 842,700 have already used the insurance policy. A total of 8.3 million services have been provided.
The program's current implementation volume is 94.7 billion drams.
