ArmInfo. For the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC), the sustainable development of impacted communities and the improvement of residents' quality of life are of paramount importance. According to a statement issued by ZCMC, social responsibility is not merely a program for the company, but a daily commitment to the Syunik region and its people.
Through a major energy project launched in 2024, impacted communities are transitioning to eco-friendly and energy-efficient technologies. Specifically, in the communities of Syunik, Ditsmayri, Khordzor, and Bargushat, ZCMC has installed 273 solar photovoltaic systems and 227 solar water heaters. Additionally, modern solar water heaters have been installed on the roofs of 51 apartment buildings in the villages of Artsvanik, Sevakar, Chapni, Ahanan, and Erkenants. In total, the plant has allocated over 227 million drams for the implementation of these two strategic programs.
These initiatives provide significant benefits to the local population, notably reducing utility costs while simultaneously addressing environmental concerns. By adopting these clean and sustainable energy sources, residents in the mentioned villages have been able to entirely phase out the use of firewood in favor of safer, more efficient heating and energy solutions.
